Water Utilities Celebrates Drinking Water Week

CORPUS CHRISTI (News Release) - The City of Corpus Christi and public water systems throughout North America are recognizing the American Water Works Association’s Drinking Water Week, May 2 – 8. Kicking off the week with a proclamation, Mayor Paulette Guajardo has distinguished the vital role that public drinking water delivers throughout our community.

City staff is observing Drinking Water Week by sharing information about the critical aspect that our tap water has in citizen’s everyday lives and the meaningful role water professionals hold for the City.

“A measure of a successful society, low mortality rates, economic growth, diversity, productivity, and public safety, are in some way related to access to safe water,” said Mayor Guajardo. “We are all stewards of the water infrastructure, upon which future generations depend.”

Honoring Drinking Water Week, the City of Corpus Christi Water Utilities employees are encouraging the community to learn more about the importance of their water intake and usage, and how our water resources and water infrastructure are a crucial part of our daily lives.

The Corpus Christi Water Utilities mission is to provide clean, and quality water and wastewater services that respect our environment and our customers can depend on.
