Corpus Christi Water Investigating Potential Leak on Mary Rhodes Pipeline

City of Corpus Christi

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS (News Release) - Corpus Christi Water (CCW) is investigating a potential pipe leak on the Mary Rhodes Pipeline (MRP) that was identified during the process of returning the pipeline to service after scheduled maintenance.

The MRP was offline for two days while Lavaca-Navidad River Authority (LNRA) installed redundant pumps at Lake Texana Pump Station and CCW contractors added two pipeline connections. During the pipeline restart, CCW identified a potential leak near the O.N. Stevens Water Treatment Plant across the Nueces River.

CCW is currently removing water from the site to allow proper assessment of the area. Contractors will begin excavating tonight to determine the extent of the leak and identify necessary repairs. The MRP will remain offline until the assessment and any repairs are completed.

During this time, the regional water supply continues to be delivered from the Western Reservoirs and the Nueces Groundwater Program.

CCW will provide updates as more information becomes available.
