City Initiative Supports Water Conservation

CORPUS CHRISTI (News Release) – Corpus Christi Water (CCW) is again selling rain barrels to encourage water conservation. The rain barrels will be available for $47.00 plus tax, with a limit of two barrels per household while supplies last. Payment will be accepted at Central Cashiering at Corpus Christi City Hall at 1201 Leopard Street, where a receipt will be issued.

Rain barrel pick-up will be at the City’s Warehouse Building Number 6 on Civitan Drive, behind Animal Care Services at 2626 Holly Road.

Please arrive with the receipt to pick up the barrels Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Rain barrel specifications:

  • 55-gallon capacity

  • 38-inch height by 24-inch diameter

  • One-fourth turn ball valve connects to a standard hose

  • Built-in fitting at the top and the bottom

  • Bug and debris screen

  • Place under your home’s downspout

A rain barrel is an environmentally friendly way to harvest and utilize rainwater. There are no restrictions on watering with a rain barrel during drought restrictions. Water captured from a rooftop and collected in a rain barrel can be used for gardens, lawns, washing cars and pets, and watering foundations.
