Vehicle Fire Under Investigation at Future Premont Public Safety Building

PREMONT, TEXAS (News Release) — At approximately 4:00 a.m. this morning, the Jim Wells County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch received a report of a vehicle fire at 431 Northwest 3rd Street in Premont, Texas. This location is currently under renovation to become the new Public Safety Building and serves as the temporary parking site for vehicles slated for auction by the Premont Police Department.

Upon arrival, the Premont Volunteer Fire Department found multiple vehicles fully engulfed in flames. Among the destroyed vehicles were two decommissioned units formerly used by the Premont Police Department.

This incident remains under active investigation with assistance from the State Fire Marshal’s Office and other law enforcement agencies.
