U.S. Currency Found in Hidden Compartment
Kleberg County Attorney's Specialized Crimes and Narcotics Task Force
RICARDO, TEXAS (News Release) - On Monday, April 16, 2024, Kleberg County Attorney's Specialized Crimes and Narcotics Task Force Task were on Highway 77 in Kleberg County and conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling southbound, just south of Ricardo.

While speaking with the occupants of the vehicle, it was believed some type of criminal activity was being committed. Other Task Force Agents arrived to assist with the traffic stop. Consent to search the vehicle was granted and Task Force Agents observed various discrepancies with the under carriage of the vehicle as well as the dashboard area.
After further investigation, it was discovered the vehicle had two after-market compartments. Both after-market compartments were opened revealing several bundles of U.S. currency. It was discovered that the currency was proceeds from illegal activity totaling $314,348.
