URGENT - FIRE WEATHER MESSAGE

National Weather Service Corpus Christi

CORPUS CHRISTI (News Release) - The National Weather Service Has Issued a Fire Watch Warning for Aransas, Bee, Calhoun, Duval, Goliad, Jim Wells, Kleberg, La Salle, Live Oak, McMullen, Nueces, Refugio, San Patricio, Victoria and Webb Counties from 11 am - 10 pm, March 17, 2022.

The combination of gusty north winds, very low humidity, very dry grasses and brush, and warm temperatures will allow for any wildfire activity to spread rapidly through late afternoon Friday. Residents should be very vigilant with items that could create sparks and ignite the dry grasses and brush.

A fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are forecast to occur. In general, these conditions include sustained 20-foot winds of 25 MPH or greater.

Residents are urged to exercise care with respect to all outdoor activities that could inadvertently cause wildfires. Avoid the use of welding or grinding equipment near dry brush. In addition, avoid parking vehicles in tall, dry grass and weeds that could be ignited.

DO NOT TOSS CIGARETTE BUTTS ON THE GROUND.
