Unwanted Individuals at Local HEB

ALICE, TEXAS - (News Release) On September 12, 2024, the Alice Police Department responded to a report of unwanted individuals at the HEB parking lot. When officers arrived, they noticed a Dodge Durango stationary in a handicap parking lot. As Officers approached, the driver of the Dodge Durango reversed and drove away without turning on its lights. Officer Sgt Flores, who was the officer on scene, activated his emergency lights in an attempt to stop the vehicle. The Driver of the Dodge Durango kept driving East bound on U.S. Hwy 44 heading towards the Corpus Christi area leading officer in a pursuit. The vehicle finally came to a stop on a county road in Nueces County. The driver, identified as one Sammy Vasquez, was arrested for theft and fleeing from a police officer. Vasquez was transported to the Jim Wells County Jail. A second passenger in the vehicle, Monique Trevino, was transported to a hospital in Corpus Christi.
Both Sammy Vasquez and Monique Trevino, are suspects in a theft that occurred a few days prior at the HEB in Alice, Texas. An investigation is currently underway by the Alice Police Criminal Investigation Division. Both individuals are from Robstown, Texas.
