Kleberg County Attorney's Specialized Crimes and Narcotics Task Force

On November 17, 2025, Special Agents working under Operation Lone Star and Operation Stone Garden successfully intercepted a significant load headed to Mexico.

At approximately 7:10 PM, Special Agent E. Gonzalez conducted a traffic stop in Riviera, Texas on a vehicle bearing Mexico license plates and occupied by three Mexican nationals. The vehicle was traveling from Atlanta, Georgia and en route to Mexico.

Special Agent M. Galvan and his K-9 partner Bax arrived to assist. K-9 Bax was deployed and gave a positive alert to the presence of contraband within the vehicle.

A subsequent search led to the discovery of an after-market compartment concealed above the exhaust tunnel. Inside the compartment, agents located $164,530 in U.S. currency. Further investigation revealed the currency was destined for a cartel cell in Mexico.
