EDINBURG - The Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol agents working with state and local authorities disrupt two stash houses resulting in the arrest of 21 illegal aliens.

On December 21, Border Patrol agents requested assistance from the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) to conduct a welfare check at a suspected human smuggling stash house in Alamo, Texas. Inside the residence, agents discovered 15 subjects and determined that all were illegally present in the United States. Nine subjects claimed to be from Mexico and six from Peru. Agents identified three unaccompanied Mexican juveniles within the group.

Later that day, the HCSO received a call from a concerned citizen about suspicious activity in a residence located in the Edinburg, Texas. The HCSO requested assistance from Weslaco Border Patrol agents. Upon investigation of the residence, six subjects were discovered to be illegally present in the United States. Three subjects claimed to be from Mexico and three from Guatemala.

On December 22, the Rio Grande City Border Patrol agents working west of Roma, Texas, observed several subjects load into a vehicle. Agents attempted to make contact with the vehicle as it fled from the area. The vehicle failed to yield and drove into Roma as the driver attempted to evade arrest. Agents later discovered the vehicle hit a light pole and became inoperable. A search of the vehicle and immediate area revealed 12 subjects, later determined to be in the United States illegally. The driver of the vehicle was not located. All subjects were medically evaluated on scene and no serious injuries were reported.

All subjects were processed accordingly.
