Two Contracts for Residential Streets Improvements
City of Corpus Christi
CORPUS CHRISTI (News Release) – Corpus Christi City Council amended a contract to Hanson Professional Services, Inc. of Corpus Christi, Texas, for the design, bid, and construction phases of the FY 2023 Residential Street Repair Program (RSRP). The $6.1 million project is funded by water and wastewater funds.
The RSRP is a citywide program that extends selected residential streets' life and structural integrity through rehabilitation or replacement. The proposed amendment will consolidate the design of both road reconstruction and utilities under one engineering firm. This streamlines the RSRP projects with fewer logistics and delays.
The amendment provides additional design for water and wastewater improvements for the RSRP streets listed on the FY 2022 and FY 2023 Infrastructure Management Plan (IMP).
The Council also approved a change order for an additional $2.5 million in funding and 180 calendar days to complete the backlog of in-house residential street projects as part of the FY 2021 Street Preventative Maintenance Program (SPMP). The additional funding will allow the contractor to complete 11 residential street repair projects.
“Street improvements and maintenance remain a top priority for this Council,” Mayor Guajardo said. “Residential streets are a primary focus, and we are committed to providing the funds and staff to repair as many as possible.”
