Tips to Prepare for Hurricane Season

 

TEXAS (News Release) - Don't wait until a storm is near to start preparing. Make sure you and your family have a plan in place and all the necessary supplies to stay safe.

Here are some key components to have in place before there is a storm in the gulf:

Have a family communication plan.

Learn community hurricane evacuation routes.

Have on hand all necessary supplies to cover your home's windows.

Ensure trees and shrubs around your home are well trimmed.

Have an emergency kit with first aid supplies, insect repellent, sanitation supplies, and personal hygiene items.

Extra water.

Flashlights and extra batteries.

It is also a good idea to sign up for weather alerts. Reverse Alert as well as the Nueces County Sheriff's App both offer severe weather updates to keep you informed.
