Corpus Christi City Secretary Elected as Texas Municipal Clerk

CORPUS CHRISTI (News Release) - Rebecca Huerta, City Secretary of Corpus Christi, has been elected as the Secretary of the Executive Board of the Texas Municipal Clerks Association (TMCA) at its annual business meeting on October 26.

The TMCA is a statewide association with more than 1,100 members and operates the Texas Municipal Clerks Certification Program (TMCCP) at the University of North Texas, Denton.

Huerta will be responsible for achieving the goals and objectives of the association. The TMCA has been dedicated to serving the demands of excellence in Texas' local government and public problem-solving since 1952

Huerta is an experienced municipal professional with 27 years of experience and has served as the City Secretary of Corpus Christi since 2014. She is the first Hispanic female to fill the position in Corpus Christi. The City Secretary, a statutory position required by State law and the City Charter, is appointed by the City Council.

She holds TMCCP's Texas Registered Municipal Clerk (TRMC) certification and the International Institute of Municipal Clerks’ (IIMC) Certified Municipal Clerk designation. Huerta is an active member of various local, state, national, and international organizations.
