Temporary Closure of Cole Park Skate Park

City of Corpus Christi

CORPUS CHRISTI (News Release) – The Corpus Christi Parks & Recreation Department will temporarily close the skate park at Cole Park, located at 1900 Ocean Drive, for scheduled maintenance. The project is set to begin on Thursday, April 28 with anticipated completion in mid-June, pending no delays due to weather or unforeseen circumstances.

The repairs to the ledge, deck, and bowl will involve the removal and replacement of steel coping with concrete coping, replacing the steel edges with granite, and repairs to the cracks. This project was awarded to Grindline Skateparks, Inc., with the cost not to exceed $70,000.

Constructed in 2008 by Grindline Skateparks, Inc., the skate park is a popular and heavily utilized amenity. The repairs should be completed in time for the summer season and available for use by residents and visitors.

Skaters are encouraged to visit the City’s other skate park located at Wranosky Park, 422 Graham Road in Flour Bluff. The park is open daily from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

“Our goal is to provide a fun and safe skate park for our residents and visitors,” said Mayor Paulette Guajardo. “With our plan to continue to make improvements to our park amenities, the heavily utilized skate park at Cole Park will continue to be a great asset to our city.”
