Suspects Arrested in Connection with Homicide in Jim Wells County

JIM WELLS COUNTY, TEXAS (News Release) — Sheriff Joseph “Guy” Baker announced the arrest of two individuals in connection with the homicide that occurred on June 2, 2025, in the Rancho Alegre area of Jim Wells County.

On June 2, 2025, deputies responded to reports of gunfire in the 1800 block of Carmen Street. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a male victim—later identified as 20-year-old Izaiah Salinas—suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to Christus Spohn Hospital in Alice, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Following an intensive investigation led by the Jim Wells County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division and the Texas Rangers, two suspects were identified and taken into custody without incident.

The suspects have been identified as:

* Gabriel Rodriguez, 22, of Jim Wells County

* Diego Kael Martinez, 18, of Jim Wells County

Both individuals have been charged with Murder (Texas Penal Code § 19.02) and Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity (Texas Penal Code § 7102) are currently being held at the Jim Wells County Jail. Bond has been set at $1,800,000 for each suspect.

“We are committed to ensuring that those responsible for violent crimes in our community are held accountable,” said Sheriff Baker. “This was a senseless act of violence, and thanks to the diligence of our investigators and law enforcement partners, we have taken a significant step toward justice for the victim and his family.”

The investigation remains ongoing. No further details will be released at this time to protect the integrity of the case.
