Stolen Vehicle Recovered

CARRIZO SPRINGS (News Release) - U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to Del Rio Sector’s Carrizo Springs Station discovered narcotics in a stolen vehicle during immigration inspection, March 30.
Agents assigned to the immigration checkpoint on Highway 277 near Carrizo Springs referred a black 2005 Toyota Forerunner for secondary inspection.
With the assistance of a canine team, Border Patrol agents searched the vehicle and found 3.8 grams of marijuana, 2.4 grams of methamphetamine, 10 pills of Xanax, 10 vials of liquid THC and three loaded 9-mm magazines. Investigation also revealed that the vehicle was reported stolen with the Austin Police Department.
The driver and passenger, both 35-year-old U.S. citizens, were arrested and taken into custody by the Dimmit County Sheriff’s Office along with the vehicle and drugs.
“Our agents remain focused and work hard to uncover illicit activity in our area of operations,” said Del Rio Sector Chief Patrol Agent Austin L. Skero II. “Thanks to the hard work of our agents and canine companions, this stash of dangerous drugs has been seized.”
