EDINBURG (News Release) – Rio Grande Valley Border Patrol Sector (RGV) agents arrested four gang members, two sex offenders, and a migrant previously convicted of negligent homicide.
On June 25, an agent from Air and Marine Operations requested assistance from the Corpus Christi Border Patrol Station (CCT), with a subject encountered at Padre Island, Texas. A CCT agent arrived and determined the subject was in the United States illegally. Record checks revealed the Mexican national was previously arrested by the Coffee County, Georgia, Sheriff’s Department for statutory rape and sentenced to 10 years’ probation.
Early, the following day, McAllen Border Patrol Station (MCS) agents working in Mission apprehended a group of migrants after they illegally entered the United States. Among the group was a 30 year old female from El Salvador who is a confirmed 18th Street gang member.
Shortly after, MCS agents working near Havana, Texas, apprehended a group of six migrants after they illegally entered the United States. Record checks on a national of Mexico, revealed that he is a member of the Gulf Cartel.
That afternoon, Falfurrias Border Patrol agents apprehended a group of five migrants on a ranch near Falfurrias, Texas. Within the group, was an El Salvadoran national who is a confirmed 18th Street gang member. He previously resided in New York where he was arrested by Nassau County Police Department (NCPD) for criminal possession of a weapon/intent to use and was sentenced to two years’ incarceration and 18 months post release supervision. He was arrested by the NCPD, a second time, for assault 2nd degree: intent to cause physical injury and was sentenced to two years confinement and 18 months supervision as well. He was subsequently removed from the United States before his reentry.
On Sunday, June 27, Fort Brown Border Patrol Station agents apprehended a group of eight migrants near Brownsville, Texas. Record checks on a national of Mexico, revealed a previous arrest by Brownsville Police department for sexual assault, a 2nd degree felony, and was sentenced to five years’ probation. He was subsequently removed from the United States.
Later that evening, Kennedy County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a lost migrant wishing to turn himself in, but was lost in the brush near Kingsville. Kingsville Border Patrol Station agents were notified and responded and encountered the migrant from El Salvador. After arriving at the station, record checks revealed the noncitizen was a confirmed Mara-Salvatrucha (MS-13) gang member.
Yesterday morning, MCS agents assigned processing duties discovered a Honduran national had been previously arrested by the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office, Lake Charles, LA, for negligent homicide. He was sentenced to two years’ confinement and was subsequently removed from the United States.
