Shots Fired at 6800 SPID

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS - (News Release) On Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at 11:13 pm, officers were dispatched to the 6800 block of South Padre Island Drive in reference to multiple calls of shots fired. As officers were being dispatched to the location, call notes were updating that a white male was shooting in different areas of the location, and someone was possibly shot. When officers arrived, the male barricaded himself inside a room.

It was unknown at the time if anyone inside the room was injured. Officers arrived and immediately began evacuating surrounding rooms. The Corpus Christi Police Department SWAT team and Hostage Negotiation Team responded to the scene. Officers attempted to make contact with the male without success. Multiple tactics were utilized in an attempt to extract the male from the room and check for victims.

Before entry was made, the male suspect confronted SWAT officers through the window with a gun, at which time officers engaged, striking the suspect. The suspect was transported to a local hospital, where he later passed away. At this time, there are no reported injuries to citizens or officers. As per CCPD policy, the four officers involved will be placed on administrative leave during this investigation.
