Shots Fired at 6900 SPID

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS (News Release) - On Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at 3:38 am, officers were dispatched to the 6900 block of South Padre Island Drive eastbound in reference to shots fired.

Officers arrived and located a suspect vehicle, a silver pickup, leaving the scene and initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle refused to stop, fled the scene and a pursuit was initiated.

While officers pursued the vehicle, other officers conducted a welfare check on the residents at the original location. Officers located over 30 rifle casings along the sidewalk and in the grass. There were no injuries reported.

The vehicle continued to evade officers, and the pursuit was terminated for safety reasons. Officers located the abandoned vehicle in the area of Culver St./Darcey Dr. and impounded the vehicle. The occupants of the vehicle are unknown and were not located.

It is unknown at this time if the parties involved in this incident were known to each other.
