Senior Homebound Vaccinations to Begin

Senior Homebound Vaccinations to Begin

Press Release

CORPUS CHRISTI – Starting today, the Corpus Christi Fire Department will begin administrating COVID-19 vaccinations to homebound elderly who are part of the City’s Meals on Wheels Program. Individuals who will be receiving the vaccinations have been contacted and are already scheduled. Daily Fire Department operational service levels will not be impacted as a result of the program.

This morning, the Senior Vaccination Program received its first 200 doses of the Moderna vaccine. First responders will provide between 80 to 100 vaccinations per day until the vaccines run out. More vaccine is being requested for this week and each of the coming weeks.

“I am pleased to announce that our Corpus Christi Firefighters will begin our Serving Our Seniors (SOS) Program this week by inoculating 200 homebound residents. Together with City Council, I will continue to work on obtaining more vaccinations within the city limits of Corpus Christi to better serve our residents,” Mayor Paulette M. Guajardo said. “This is an important program for our senior citizens and the disabled. More vaccination opportunities are coming and we thank our residents for their patience.”
