NUECES COUNTY, TEXAS - (News Release) On July 22nd, the Nueces County Sheriff’s Office Training Division completed its first School Marshal Training program. 12 school employees from around the state attended the 8-day course and graduated with their school Marshal certifications.

The purpose of a School Marshal is to prevent the act of murder and serious bodily injury on school premises. Before becoming a School Marshal, each candidate must first complete an 80-hour training course. The Nueces County Sheriff’s Office is one of the only agencies certified to teach the School Marshal Program and is offering the training for free as a service to school districts across the State of Texas.
