EDINBURG – (News Release) Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol (RGV) agents disrupted three migrant smuggling attempts resulting in 13 arrests.

February 16th morning, McAllen Border Patrol (MCS) agents responded to a request for assistance from Palmview Police Department (PPD) regarding a vehicle stop on a Volkswagen Jetta near Palmview, Texas. Agents determined two occupants were illegally present in the United States. PPD took custody of the driver. The nationals of Honduras and Mexico were placed under arrest without incident.

Later that afternoon, RGV agents working near La Gloria, Texas, initiated a traffic stop on a grey Ford F150, however, the driver failed to yield, and a pursuit ensued. The pursuit came to an end when the driver collided through a perimeter fence gate. Multiple subjects, including the driver, absconded from the vehicle. Agents were able to apprehend four people that were illegally present in the United States. The driver was not located, and no injuries were reported.

February 17th morning, RGV agents working on U.S. Highway 77 in Randolph, Texas, attempted to initiate an immigration inspection on a Chevrolet Equinox. The driver failed to yield and led the agents on a brief vehicle pursuit after which several subjects bailed out. A search of the immediate area resulted in the apprehension of six subjects. The driver was not located.
