Reconstruction of Castenon Street

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS (News Release) – Corpus Christi City Council approved a contract for the reconstruction of Castenon Street in District 3.

The $3.57 million project will reconstruct Castenon from Trojan Drive to Delgado Street, featuring new asphalt pavement, curb and gutter, sidewalk, driveways, signage, pavement markings, ADA ramps, and related utility improvements.

This is a vital thoroughfare for students, parents, and staff traveling to Moody High School. This project, funded by Bond 2018 and related utility funds, underscores the City’s commitment to improving infrastructure and ensuring safe and efficient travel for our community.

“Investing in the reconstruction of Castenon Street is an investment in the safety and accessibility of our neighborhoods,” said Mayor Paulette Guajardo. “This project will greatly benefit the families, students, and staff who travel this route daily, and it reflects our continued commitment to rebuilding Corpus Christi’s infrastructure to better serve every resident.”

MAX Underground Construction will be the contractor.

Construction is planned to begin in November and is expected to last approximately one year.

During construction, driveways will remain accessible. Additionally, safety remains a top priority, and motorists traveling through this area must follow the posted detour signs to navigate the construction zone. Detours will be clearly marked to ensure minimal disruption and maintain traffic flow.
