TAFT, TEXAS - (News Release) The City of Taft is committed to ensuring the safety and quality of the water provided to the community. The city understands that recent discussions and in-home test results shared by a resident have caused some concerns regarding the water supply. The city would like to take this opportunity to clarify the situation and reassure our citizens.

First and foremost, the City of Taft strictly adheres to the guidelines and regulations set by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). The water supply undergoes rigorous testing on a monthly basis by certified laboratories to ensure compliance with all health and safety standards. These tests include checks for chlorine levels, as well as the presence of harmful contaminants such as E. Coli and Coliform bacteria.

The city is pleased to report that the most recent test results, conducted on August 20, 2024, confirm that the water supply is safe. The chlorine levels were within the appropriate range, and there were no detections of E. Coli or Coliform in the water samples. These results demonstrate the city’s continued commitment to maintaining a safe and reliable water supply for all residents.

For full transparency, the City of Taft posts an annual water quality report on the website. The most recent report, covering the year 2023, is available for public review at https://www.tafttx.gov/.../557-departmental-report.... This report provides a comprehensive overview of our water quality performance, including detailed results and compliance with state and federal standards.

We encourage all residents to rely on official sources and data when evaluating the quality of the water supply. The City of Taft remains dedicated to providing safe drinking water and ensuring transparency with our community.

This statement along with the water quality test results from 8/20/24 are available on the city's website under News.
