TAFT, TEXAS - (News Release) The City of Taft is committed to ensuring the safety and quality of the water provided to the community. The city understands that recent discussions and in-home test results shared by a resident have caused some concerns regarding the water supply. The city would like to take this opportunity to clarify the situation and reassure our citizens.

First and foremost, the City of Taft strictly adheres to the guidelines and regulations set by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). The water supply undergoes rigorous testing on a monthly basis by certified laboratories to ensure compliance with all health and safety standards. These tests include checks for chlorine levels, as well as the presence of harmful contaminants such as E. Coli and Coliform bacteria.

The city is pleased to report that the most recent test results, conducted on August 20, 2024, confirm that the water supply is safe. The chlorine levels were within the appropriate range, and there were no detections of E. Coli or Coliform in the water samples. These results demonstrate the city’s continued commitment to maintaining a safe and reliable water supply for all residents.
