Propane Tanks Explode in Vehicle Fire Near Bishop Elementary School

BISHOP, TEXAS (News Release) - Authorities responded Monday afternoon to a vehicle fire that prompted a temporary traffic disruption near the intersection of Sixth Street and Fir Avenue, near Bishop Elementary School.

According to the Nueces County Constable’s Office Precinct 3, deputies were dispatched around 3:30 p.m. on December 15, 2025, along with officers from the Bishop Police Department and Emergency Service District 3.

Officials reported that the vehicle contained propane tanks, which exploded during the fire. Tires also blew out, creating additional safety concerns. Law enforcement and emergency personnel quickly established traffic control in the area while crews worked to secure the scene.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
