Premont Teen Arrested After Shots Fired Toward Officer During Terroristic Threat Investigation

PREMONT, TEXAS (News Release) - A 17-year-old Premont resident was arrested early June 4 after authorities say shots were fired toward a Premont police officer and a reporting party while officers were investigating a terroristic threat complaint.

According to the Premont Police Department, officers responded to an incident within the city at approximately 1:30 a.m. on June 4. While an officer was taking a report regarding a terroristic threat that had allegedly occurred earlier in the evening, several gunshots were fired in the vicinity and direction of both the officer and the individual making the report.
Following an immediate investigation, officers identified and arrested Daniel D. Trevino, whose date of birth is listed as July 20, 2008.
Trevino was charged with:
One count of Aggravated Assault Against a Public Servant
Two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon
Two counts of Terroristic Threat
One count of Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon
Authorities said Trevino was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Jim Wells County Adult Detention Center.
Premont Police Chief Ricardo R. Garcia said the department appreciates the assistance provided by troopers with the Texas Department of Public Safety and deputies from the Jim Wells County Sheriff's Office during the incident.
The investigation remains active, and no additional information has been released.
