Pipeline Continues Operation at Reduced Capacity
City of Corpus Christi
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS (News Release) – On May 29, the Lavaca Navidad River Authority (LNRA) and Corpus Christi Water (CCW) detected decreased pumping pressure along the MRP, indicating a potential operational issue. Investigation revealed an issue with one of the pumps at LNRA’s pump station in Edna, Texas.
The complete pumping assembly has been removed for teardown and inspection, with all repairs being conducted on a priority basis by LNRA’s pump service and motor service providers.
The pipeline system flow has been reduced from its maximum flow of 70 million gallons per day (MGD) to the current flow of 55 million MGD. Water delivery to Corpus Christi continues uninterrupted at Schedule 3 operations.
CCW has spare pumping equipment for the Bloomington and Woodsboro pump stations scheduled to arrive in August 2025, and LNRA has additional spare equipment scheduled for delivery later this year. These advanced orders help ensure the system is prepared for future operational and maintenance needs.
The City and its partners are actively monitoring the situation and will provide updates as repairs progress. Residents can be assured that water service continues, and the City is taking all necessary steps to address the issue.
