CBWF’s Community Health Outreach department’s mission is to create an environment that promotes positive behavior change to reinforce healthier communities through disease prevention, social support, health education and awareness. OQ Bishop’s recent pledge of support is benefiting Project R.E.A.C.H. (Rural Education and Awareness for Community Health) and the Red Cord Initiative; two vital programs for the communities of the Coastal Bend.

Project R.E.A.C.H. provides rural communities programming with the intent of reducing the rates of opioid misuse and overdose deaths. Red Cord Initiative is a community-based diversion program dedicated to providing support for those involved in human trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation. Red Cord Initiative provides safe and secure housing, comprehensive case management services, and active collaboration between law enforcement, prosecutors, and service providers.

OQ Chemicals is a worldwide leader in the production and sale of Oxo Intermediates and Oxo Performance Chemicals. OQ Bishop has made social responsibility an integral part of their corporate culture. Through the support from OQ Chemicals Bishop, programs such as Red Cord will be able to provide opportunities for individuals to experience positive life outcomes and R.E.A.C.H. will be able to provide Naloxone, a lifesaving medication to prevent fatal opioid overdoses. Alison Johnson, Director of Community Health Outreach, shares, “This donation will allow for our program initiatives to stretch a little further and in that stretch, you just never know whose life will forever be changed and transformed!”
