Traffic Alert - Northbound IH 37 Port Avenue/Nueces Bay Boulevard

CORPUS CHRISTI (News Release) – On Friday, August 19, and Saturday, August 20, from 9 pm until 6 am both nights, the northbound IH 37 Port Avenue/Nueces Bay Boulevard exit from southbound US 181 to Martin Luther King Drive will be closed. Subsequently, the Northwest Loop Ramp from Martin Luther King Drive to southbound SH 286 will also be closed. The temporary closures are necessary for overhead construction related to the Harbor Bridge Project. 

Motorists heading southbound on US 181 to southbound SH 286 will be detoured to continue northbound on IH 37, take the Upriver Road exit, make a U-turn, and continue southbound on IH 37 to the direct connector ramp for southbound SH 286. 

Motorists leaving the bayfront area to southbound SH 286 will continue northbound on IH 37, take the Up River Road exit, make a U-turn, and continue southbound on IH 37 to the newly opened direct connector ramp for southbound SH 286. 

Portable message signs will be in place to assist motorists with navigating the alternate route.
