New Traffic Signal Coming to Intersection of Purdue Road and Flour Bluff Drive
City of Corpus Christi
CORPUS CHRISTI (News Release) — Beginning on Wednesday, May 11, a temporary closure at the intersection of Purdue Road and Flour Bluff Drive will be in place to allow the Department of Public Works to perform safety improvements at the intersection.
Purdue Road was recently extended west of Flour Bluff Drive. The extension has prompted new safety improvements to include:
Installation of a new traffic signal pole and mast arm at the southeast corner of Purdue Road and Flour Bluff Drive.
Installation of new signs designating the new section of Purdue Road as “ONE-WAY” traffic flow only, in the east direction, towards Flour Bluff Drive.
The new traffic signal assembly and traffic signs will help residents in the surrounding area safely exit onto Flour Bluff Drive.
During the installation of the new traffic devices, the intersection of Purdue Road and Flour Bluff Drive will be closed on the west side only. This will require some residents to temporarily use Pleasant Drive to access Purdue Road instead of Crest Drive or Relaxed Lane.
The temporary closure will be in place until the traffic signal is installed and operational. Construction of the new traffic signal pole and mast arm is expected to last one (1) month.
During construction, motorists are reminded to be aware of the work zone and should anticipate minor lane or shoulder closures as part of the traffic signal installation process. Motorists should seek alternate routes to avoid delays.
