New Splash Pad at Amistad Veterans Memorial Park

BISHOP (News Release) - Joe A. Gonzalez (JAG), Nueces County Commissioner Precinct 2, held a groundbreaking event on Thursday, February 10 for a new splash pad at the Amistad Veterans Memorial Park in Bishop.

The project will consist of installing a new 2,500 square feet splash pad with water recirculation and disinfection systems to include 37 water features including 1 activator; 2-3 color spray deck with 5.5" concrete depth; five (5) knee walls including equipment pumps, sand filter manifold, control panel, levelor chemical controller; buried 3,000 gallon tank, water connection, electrical connection, concrete sidewalk connections meeting ADA/TDLR requirements, and all federal, state and local standards and codes.

The county retained the engineering firm of LNV Engineering now known as The Ardurra Group, Inc. in August 2020 for the design and construction management. Commissioners Court approved the invitation for bids for the installation of the 2,500 square feet splash pad on August 4, 2021; and was awarded to ICE Engineering and Construction on December 15, 2021.

Construction will take place during the next few months and the splash pad is expected to be completed this summer.
