ROBSTOWN, TEXAS (News Release) – Nueces Electric Cooperative (NEC) is closely monitoring Hurricane Beryl's path and potential impacts and preparing to respond quickly and safely should outages occur.

NEC trucks are being stocked with all essential supplies and materials to address any outages caused by the storm. System operators monitor the Nueces Electric Cooperative power system and weather 24/7.

 How You Can Prepare:

  • Assemble an emergency kit: Include a three-day supply of water, non-perishable food, medication, first aid supplies, a flashlight, weather radio, extra batteries, and a list of emergency contacts.

  • Charge your devices: Ensure your cell phone and external backup power sources are fully charged.

  • Develop an evacuation plan: Communicate this plan with your family and include provisions for pets or livestock.

  • Secure outdoor items: Safely store lawn furniture, decorations, toys, garbage cans, and other items indoors.

  • Close windows and doors: Secure your home in the event of high winds.

  • Fuel up: Fill your vehicles' tanks as power outages could affect gas stations.

  • Prepare your grill: Have supplies ready for your propane or charcoal grill, and always grill outdoors in well-ventilated areas for safety.
