Multiple Criminal Migrants Arrested in the Rio Grande Valley

EDINBURG (News Release) – Rio Grande Valley Sector agents arrested two Mara-Salvatrucha (MS-13) gang members with criminal histories in their home country of El Salvador and two Guatemalan nationals previously convicted in the United States of sex crimes against children. 

On Nov. 13, Brownsville Border Patrol Station agents arrested a group of five migrants in Brownsville. Record checks on a Salvadoran national, revealed he is a MS-13 gang member and had been arrested in his home country for aggravated homicide.

Later that evening, McAllen Border Patrol Station (MCS) agents conducting record checks on Emilio Ixcoy, a Guatemalan national who was apprehended a day earlier in Roma, Texas, revealed he is a registered sex offender. He was convicted of two felonies in Florida in 2010, attempted sexual battery upon a child and lewd and lascivious conduct, to which he was sentenced to 15 years confinement. At the same time, he was also convicted of resist or obstruct officer without violence and sentenced to 365 days confinement. 

That night, Rio Grande City Border Patrol agents apprehended another Guatemalan national whose record checks revealed he was convicted of aggravated sexual assault of a child in New Jersey in 2012 and sentenced to four years incarceration. He was subsequently removed from the United States. 

On Nov. 14, MCS agents arrested a group of nine migrants near Sullivan City. Record checks on a Salvadoran national, revealed he is a MS-13 gang member and had served five years in El Salvador for extortion. He was also apprehended in Weslaco and removed from the United States in 2015. 

All subjects were processed accordingly.
