Memorial Day Ruck Walk 2022

RIVIERA - This morning, 34 people took the challenge of walking 22 miles at the annual South Texas Memorial Day Ruck Walk. The walk is held annually on Memorial Day to remember those that gave their lives in service to our country.

The patriotic procession honoring fallen U.S. troops started at H.M. King High School in Kingsville, then headed South on US Highway 77 towards the De La Roas Ranch in Riviera.

“Ruck”, short for “rucksack”, is military slang for a backpack.

It’s about honoring and remembering those who paid the ultimate sacrifice and never made it home.
