Man Climbs New Harbor Bridge

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS (News Release) - On September 24, 2025, at 12:37 pm, Corpus Christi Police Department (CCPD) Officers responded to the New Harbor Bridge in reference to a male climbing one of the suspension cables.

The Corpus Christi Fire Department (CCFD) utilized their truck company to assist in getting an Officer with CCPD’s Hostage Negotiation Team (HNT) closer to the male. The HNT officer was able to create dialog with the male.

After successful communication with the male, he agreed to come down from the structure. He was assisted by CCFD.

The male will be taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
