Senior Patrol Leader Lane Elsik, Patrol Leader Drew Seidel, Strike Force Patrol Scouts Andy Cano and Dominic Rocha joined more than 100 other scouts from the Rio Grande Valley as well as scouts from as far as Laredo in the camping event.

Camp Director, Oscar Garza, welcomed the scouts to the “re-opening” of Camp Perry after having to go to a virtual winter camp experience in 2020 due to COVID-19. “It makes my heart full to see boy scouts here at Camp Perry again.” While at the camp, the Troop 186 Scouts earned merit badges in camping, backpacking, automotive maintenance, architecture, public speaking, environmental science, music, citizenship in the community, among others.

“I am so proud of our scouts. Their maturity, leadership and respect for each other grows with each outing. These boys are learning skills they will use throughout their lifetimes. And more importantly, they are building friendships and connections with others, “said Scoutmaster Jaime Rocha.

The Scouts finished off the unseasonably warm Winter Camp with popsicle treats before traveling back to Kingsville.
