Kleberg County Arrest Linked to Federal Case Involving Murder, Racketeering Charges

KINGSVILLE, TEXAS (News Release) - Kleberg County Attorney Kira Talip-Sanchez announced that on March 18, 2026, task force special agents, along with investigators from the Kleberg County Attorney’s Office assigned to the U.S. Marshals Service, partnered with the FBI and the U.S. Marshals Service to execute a warrant in the 1300 block of East Huisache.

One suspect, Romeo Jose Ferrer, also known as “Primo,” was taken into custody without incident. Authorities said Ferrer is a confirmed gang member and is part of a broader federal investigation.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Texas, 17 alleged gang members and associates have been arrested and charged in connection with a federal case involving racketeering conspiracy, murder and other violent crimes.

Ferrer faces multiple federal charges, including:

  • Conspiracy to conduct the affairs of an enterprise through a pattern of racketeering activity

  • Murder in aid of racketeering activity

  • Using, carrying, brandishing, discharging and possessing a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence

  • Using, carrying, brandishing and discharging a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence resulting in death

  • Attempted murder in aid of racketeering activity

  • Assault in aid of racketeering activity
