KINGSVILLE, TEXAS - Keep Kingsville Beautiful in association with the Arbor Day Foundation, became the latest member of Tree City USA.

Tree City USA is a program that honors communities across America for their commitment to urban forestry. To be recognized as a Tree City USA, a community must meet four standards:

  1. Maintaining a tree board or department

  2. Having a community tree ordinance

  3. Spending at least $2 per capita on urban forestry

  4. Celebrating Arbor Day

Communities that fulfill these criteria receive annual Tree City recognition. The program, established in 1976 by the Arbor Day Foundation in collaboration with the U.S. Forest Service and National Association of State Foresters, encourages effective management of public trees.

On Friday, April 19, 2024, at the Maggie Salinas Pavilion in Kingsville, an Earth Day celebration with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, Kingsville Parks & Recreation & Texas A&M Forest Service were on hand for a variety of earth day activities including giveaways, arts & crafts, and an educational booth to learn about conservation, habitat preservation and recycling.
