Kingsville Man Killed Himself During Investigation Involving Alleged Child Pornography

KINGSVILLE (News Release) – Kingsville Police Department Investigators assisted the Corpus Christi Police Department’s OCU/ ICAC in an investigation involving alleged child pornography. CCPD’s OCU/ICAC had developed information that additional evidence was going to be located in a residence in Kingsville. KPD, CCPD OCU/ICAC and Homeland Security Investigations conducted a joint operation at the local residence to gather additional evidence into the alleged child pornography.

They executed a search warrant early this morning in the 700 block of E. Ave D. Upon initial contact a suspect, later identified as 26-year-old Alejandro Vela, barricaded himself in the residence. The Kingsville Police Department’s Special Weapons and Tactics Team was then activated. Shortly after SWAT arrived, Vela shot himself and took his own life.

During the course of the investigation, another male suspect, 25-year-old Adrian Vela arrived at the residence where the investigation was ongoing. Adrian was transported to the Kingsville Police Department where he was subsequently arrested for Possession of Child Pornography a Felony of the 2nd Degree and Indecency with a child sexual contact a Felony of the 2nd Degree.
