Kingsville Police Officer Cadets Graduated from Del Mar Regional Police Academy

KINGSVILLE (News Release) - Kingsville Police Department Police Officer Cadets graduated Friday night, June 23, 2023 from the Del Mar Regional Police Academy.
Joshua Kent and Jimmy Villarreal tied for "Top Shooter" in the class, having shot 100%. The tie breaker was a single 50 yard shot to the target. This was decided by less than 3 inches on the target. Great shooting cadets!
Chief Ricardo Torres was provided the honor of pinning the cadets. Patrol Commander Jorge Flores and Captain Johnny Campos also attended as they have been mentoring these officers as the proceed thru our training process and finally to becoming Texas Commission on Law Enforcement peace officers.
The cadets have another five (5) weeks of in-service training at KPD to include:

Active Shooter
ASP
Handcuffing Techniques
Self Aid Buddy Aid (SABA)
CRASH Accident Investigation
Gracie Survival Tactics (Defense Tactics)
Traffic Stops
Body Camera
Mobile Camera (In Car)
eForce (Computer Aided Dispatch/Report Management System)
Court Testimony
Upon the completion of the training the cadets will be sworn in and begin their 16 week Field Training with a Field Training Officer. Only after successful completion of Field Training are the officers released to work on their own.
