JFK Causeway Bridge Set to Reopen Early

City of Corpus Christi

CORPUS CHRISTI (News Release) – The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) announced that all lanes of the JFK Causeway Bridge are scheduled to reopen by noon on Thursday, June 29 – one day ahead of schedule. The early opening is due to the contractor expediting the placement of the permanent concrete median barrier and armor joint replacements.

The construction is part of a $9 million maintenance project on the JFK Causeway Bridge. It is estimated to be completed by winter 2023, according to the contractor's latest schedule.

The project’s construction schedule indicates remaining work items will require daily, off-peak lane closures (9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.) after the July 4th holiday. However, discussions continue with the contractor to identify work that could be properly executed during night-time hours.
