Construction Contract Awarded to JE Construction Services

CORPUS CHRISTI (News Release) – The Corpus Christi City Council approved two Bond 2020 street construction contracts of $2.3 and $3.2 million.

The first construction contract was awarded to JE Construction Services, LLC of Corpus Christi, TX, for the rehabilitation of Waldron Road from South Padre Island Drive to Purdue Road, located in Council District 4 at Flour Bluff.

This project will replace severely worn or damaged concrete panels, install new driveways, curbs, gutters, pavement markings, and signage, and improve stormwater, wastewater, water, and gas utilities. The $2.3 million project will be funded using street Bond 2020 and FY 2022 stormwater, wastewater, water, and gas funds.

The second construction contract was awarded to Mako Contracting of Corpus Christi, TX, for the reconstruction of Wildcat Drive from FM 624 to Teague Lane, located in Council District 1 at Calallen.

This project will include new asphalt pavement, sidewalks, ADA curb ramps, concrete driveways, new curbs, gutters, striping, pavement markings, traffic signage, street illumination, an RTA bus shelter, and utility improvements to stormwater, wastewater, water, and gas. The $3.2 million project is funded using Street Bond 2020 and FY 2022 stormwater, wastewater, water, and gas funds.

These are the first two street projects awarded construction contracts from the Bond 2020 program. All 22 street projects from the Bond 2020 program are currently in the design, bid, and construction phases.

The Waldron Road project is scheduled to begin in October and be completed in Fall 2023. Construction of the Wildcat Drive project will also start next month and is expected to be completed in the Summer of 2023.
