Investigation Underway After Missing Woman’s Remains Found in Aransas Pass
Aransas Pass Police Department
ARANSAS PASS, TEXAS (News Release) - Authorities have confirmed that human remains found in Aransas Pass belong to a woman who was reported missing earlier this year, police said.
According to the Aransas Pass Police Department, officers received a missing person report May 31 regarding Jennifer Lopez. A search was conducted, but initial efforts to locate her were unsuccessful.
On June 30, investigators, assisted by the Texas Rangers and the South Central K-9 Search and Rescue team, searched a heavily wooded area on the city’s north side where Lopez was known to frequent. Using cadaver dogs, search teams located human remains.
Due to the condition of the remains, DNA analysis was required to determine their identity. Police said results received in November confirmed the remains were those of Jennifer Lopez.
The investigation remains ongoing, and no additional information has been released. Anyone with information related to the case is urged to contact Aransas Pass Police Detective Sgt. Stacey Allen or Tri-County Crime Stoppers.
