Intermittent Nightly Road Closures Planned on Harbor Bridge Project

CORPUS CHRISTI (News Release) – The IH 37 northbound exit to Martin Luther King Drive and the Northwest Loop Ramp from Martin Luther King Drive to southbound SH 286 (Crosstown) will be closed intermittently between the hours of 9 pm until 6 am, Monday through Thursday, beginning Monday, October 31, until Thursday, November 17.

The temporary closures are needed to perform overhead bridge deck work on the new Connector Ramp, which will carry future traffic from southbound IH 37 to northbound US 181.

Motorists heading southbound on US 181 to southbound SH 286 will continue northbound on IH 37, take the Up River Road exit, make a U-turn, and continue southbound on IH 37 to the direct connector ramp for southbound SH 286. 

Motorists leaving the bayfront area to southbound SH 286 will continue northbound on IH 37, take the Up River Road exit, make a U-turn, and continue southbound on IH 37 to the newly opened direct connector ramp for southbound SH 286. 

Portable message signs will be in place to alert motorists of the closures and to assist with navigating the alternate route.

Motorists are urged to be aware of the temporary closures, consider using alternate routes, follow all traffic control devices, and to slow down in the work zones. All work is weather permitting.
