Adding Increased Capacity at the City’s Largest Wastewater Reclamation Plant

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS (News Release) – The Corpus Christi City Council approved improvements to the Oso Water Reclamation Plant (WRP). The project is part of Corpus Christi Water’s (CCW) Capital Improvement Plan for Fiscal Year 2024.

The approved construction for the Oso WRP provides a third treatment basin and modifies the two existing treatment basins to increase treatment capacity and modernize the infrastructure.

The Oso WRP is the city’s largest wastewater treatment plant, accommodating nearly half of its wastewater services. The Oso WRP also offers effluent for reuse to commercial customers for irrigation.

This project, totaling $109.8 million, is part of a long-term plan to upgrade the city’s wastewater infrastructure and provide reliability and resilience throughout the system.

“These infrastructure upgrades will provide a positive impact toward the quality of life for both residents and visitors in the area for years to come,” Mayor Guajardo said. “Today’s approval by City Council for improvements to the Oso Water Reclamation Plant marks a significant step forward in enhancing our city’s wastewater infrastructure.”
