Incentive Agreement for El Bolillo Bakery Expansion Approved

City of Corpus Christi

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS (News Release) – The City Council and Corpus Christi B Corporation (Type B) have approved a Business Incentive Agreement supporting El Bolillo Bakery’s proposed expansion into Corpus Christi. The project is projected to introduce a new manufacturing and distribution facility to the city and could generate an estimated 121 permanent jobs.

The agreement provides up to $363,000 in economic development incentives through the Corpus Christi B Corporation (Type B), in partnership with the Corpus Christi Regional Economic Development Corporation (CCREDC).

Planned for 2101 Morgan Avenue in District 1, the project aims to transform a former Walgreens building that has remained vacant on Corpus Christi’s Westside. The redevelopment holds the potential to foster new economic activity at an existing commercial property while supporting continued investment and revitalization in the surrounding area.

As envisioned, the development is anticipated to encompass a wholesale bakery manufacturing facility, regional distribution operations, and an on-site retail bakery. The facility is designed to serve Corpus Christi and the greater South Texas region while creating employment opportunities in production, distribution, and support operations.

The project represents a planned private investment of more than $6 million and an estimated annual payroll of $3.6 million. The Corpus Christi facility is currently targeted to be fully operational in 2027.
