CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS — (News Release) The City of Corpus Christi and Foresight Golf celebrated the completion and grand opening of improvements to the Lozano Golf Center—introducing illuminated night golf to the Coastal Bend Region.

The Firefly is the highly anticipated all-new 9-hole course that was redesigned by award-winning world-renowned golf architect Arthur Schaupeter. The course and driving range now offer stunning new shaping, topography, state-of-the-art turf grasses, and a new irrigation system to allow golfers of all skill levels to play and experience golf in a whole new light. Fifty-seven light poles were installed on the remodeled 41 acres.

The course features state-of-the-art Musco’s light control LED system and ball tracker technology for golfers to follow the entire flight and path of their ball. The app provides golfers with the ball distance in real-time on their smartphones.

The practice driving range also received a complete makeover with a new topography and an innovative LED lighting system for extended nighttime practice. The added 11,000 square feet of putting practice area with 50 hitting stations now accommodates more golfers — an increase from 35 hitting stations. It also has a new “short game” practice area with chipping greens and bunkers, along with defined target greens and fairways on the practice range floor.

The total cost for the Lozano Golf Center Improvements was approximately $4 million. It was funded by the City Council-approved CIP plan with Type B sales tax and the Golf Enterprise Fund.
