City of Corpus Christi

CORPUS CHRISTI (News Release) – Tropical Storm Grace has now been declared a hurricane. The storm is forecasted to reach the Yucatan Peninsula late tonight and eastern Mexico early Saturday morning, remaining well south of Corpus Christi.

Despite remaining south of Corpus Christi, Grace is forecasted to cause life-threatening conditions on the City’s beaches. These threats include a high risk for rip currents, rough surf, and minor coastal flooding.

In response to adverse weather conditions, the City will place message boards at beach access roads advising the public of water conditions. In addition, the City’s lifeguard presence will be increased.

Public safety is one of the City’s top priorities. As such, the City urges beach patrons to stay informed of the Beach Flag Warning System. Red flag conditions will remain present through the weekend.

Additional information regarding the Beach Flag Warning System can be found on the “Corpus Christi Beaches” Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/CCBeaches/. The public is urged to take precautions and follow local advisories for any updates.
