Bishop (News Release) - At approximately 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 6, 2021, a Bishop Police Officer assigned to the Nueces County DA’s Office Criminal Interdiction Unit initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle at U.S. Highway 77 and FM 2826 for an observed Transportation Code Violation.

Upon making contact with the driver of the vehicle, the officer observed several subjects concealed within the vehicle and developed reasonable suspicion to believe criminal activity was afoot.

At that time additional back-up units were requested and Nueces County Pct-3 Constable and Nueces County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived on scene a short time later.

Upon further investigation officers located a total of six (6) additional subjects in the vehicle, all of which were later determined to be undocumented immigrants from Honduras.

The driver was arrested and later charged with Trafficking of Persons. He was transported to the Nueces County Jail without incident.

All six undocumented immigrants were taken into custody by U.S. Border Patrol on scene.
