Harbor Bridge Decorative Lights to be Removed

City of Corpus Christi

CORPUS CHRISTI (News Release) - The Corpus Christi City Council approved an agreement for $448,725.00 with Pfeiffer & Son, LTD to remove the Harbor Bridge's decorative lighting system.

In December, City Council approved having the company inspect the lighting system structure. The company found the lighting system structure was corroded and would need to be removed.

The decorative lights were installed in 2010. They were designed to last only five years but have been operational for more than ten years. The lighting system has passed its end of life by almost six years.

Funding for the removal comes from the City's general fund with in-kind service agreements from the Port of Corpus Christi and Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) worth approximately $150,000 each.

The removal project is expected to take about ten weeks.
